To\u00a0further our commitment to supporting\u00a0data residency,\u00a0stability and\u00a0resilience\u00a0in the cloud, Microsoft is announcing the general availability of\u00a0<\/strong>Azure Availability Zones<\/a><\/strong>\u202ffrom our\u00a0Norway East datacenter region.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Growing data center industry<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Minister of Regional Development and Digitalisation, Linda Hofstad Helleland, is happy to see that the data center industry is growing in Norway.<\/p>\n

-Data centers are important building blocks of our digital infrastructure. Providing the Norwegian industry, as well as the public administration, access to data services from data centers, increases productivity, adds flexibility and stimulates the use of new technology and innovative solutions. In addition, Norway can offer clean and green solutions, which in turn contributes to a more sustainable global data economy, says Helleland.<\/p>\n

Only public cloud provider \u2013 Within Norway<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Availability\u00a0Zones\u00a0\u00a0comprise\u00a0of a minimum of three zones, allowing customers to spread their infrastructure and applications across discrete and dispersed datacenters for added resiliency and high availability in case of external events or datacenter failures.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0These are further supported by one of the top industry-leading service level agreements (SLA<\/a>)\u00a0of\u00a099.99% virtual machine uptime.<\/p>\n

\u201cMicrosoft is the\u00a0only\u00a0public\u00a0cloud provider offering services from within Norway, enabling customers with data residency or latency\u00a0requirements to build resilient, mission-critical systems and accelerate innovation with the hundreds of services available on the Azure platform\u201d\u00a0continues Frenning.<\/p>\n

Data residency \u2013 important for our customers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Availability\u00a0Zones\u00a0help\u00a0ensure\u00a0data protection\u00a0by storing data in triplicate across the three physical data centers.\u00a0Customers can\u202f<\/strong>choose\u202f<\/strong>to store data in the same datacenter, across zonal datacenters in the same region, or across geographically separated regions.<\/p>\n
