How do we prepare young people for a world where AI will be embedded in nearly every industry, profession, and aspect of daily life?

Yesterday, Microsoft Norway had the privilege of welcoming 50 students and teachers from Oslo International School to our Oslo headquarters for Invent the Future: AI Skilling for Generation Alpha—a collaborative initiative designed to help students build foundational AI knowledge, strengthen critical thinking skills, and explore the opportunities and responsibilities that come with emerging technologies.

The event brought together partners from Girls at Tech NordicsGlobal Shapers Oslo, and Ludenso, alongside Microsoft volunteers and educators, creating a unique learning experience where students could engage directly with technology professionals and community leaders.

Throughout the day, students participated in a series of interactive workshops focused on some of the most important topics shaping the future of technology:

🔹 Responsible AI – exploring deepfakes, digital trust, AI bias, and the importance of ethical technology development.

🔹 Algorithms and Robotics – gaining hands-on insight into how intelligent systems work and how algorithms influence the world around us.

🔹 Minecraft Education – applying creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in immersive digital learning environments.

🔹 Generative AI and Creative Learning – discovering how AI can be used as a tool for innovation, creativity, communication, and learning.

What made the day especially memorable was the engagement from the students themselves. They asked insightful questions about the future of work, the ethical implications of AI, and how technology can be used to solve real-world challenges. Their curiosity, creativity, and willingness to challenge assumptions demonstrated why investing in AI literacy at an early age is so important.

A sincere thank you to everyone who contributed to making this initiative a success—from the leadership and volunteers of Girls at Tech Nordics, Global Shapers Oslo, and Ludenso, to the Microsoft team members who shared their expertise and passion with the next generation.

At Microsoft, we believe that preparing young people for the future requires more than access to technology. It requires access to knowledge, mentorship, and opportunities to develop the skills that will help them thrive in an AI-powered world.

Together, we can help ensure that the next generation is not only ready for the future of AI—but empowered to build it responsibly.
