From <a href=\"https:\/\/news.microsoft.com\/en-hk\/2020\/02\/05\/microsoft-empowers-hong-kong-teachers-and-students-with-real-time-interactive-remote-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eLearning innovations<\/a>, to lifting the spirits with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/blog\/2020\/03\/02\/working-remotely-during-challenging-times\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">photo and cooking challenges<\/a> \u2013 teachers and students have shown extraordinary resilience during a difficult time.<\/p>\n<p>Schools and universities have witnessed the exceptional value that online learning can bring. And now, as the world begins to take small steps back towards normality, they are likely to move forward with \u2018blended learning\u2019 from now on. Which means enriching the learning experience with technology whether students are at home or at school.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, Microsoft Teams remains available to educational institutions for free, through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/academic\/compare-office-365-education-plans?rtc=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Office 365 A1<\/a> package. This provides a completely free, customisable hub for blended learning, including video meetings, online versions of the Office 365 apps, as well as compliance tools and information protection.<\/p>\n<h2>A more effective blended learning environment<\/h2>\n<p>As many schools begin a phased return to traditional teaching methods, Microsoft Teams can help to bridge the gap. But more importantly, it can provide a holistic blended learning experience, on a single platform accessible via phone, tablet, PC or browser.<\/p>\n<p>To help make this process as simple as possible, we\u2019ve created a <a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/best-practices-for-school-leaders-creating-teams-and-channels-in-microsoft-teams-for-education-f3663ad9-a835-4971-9acb-6725a543c003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">best practice guide<\/a> for school leaders and IT to help them use Microsoft Teams more effectively.<\/p>\n<p>It means teachers and staff can <a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/Create-a-class-team-in-Microsoft-Teams-fae422eb-58b7-4431-9ff2-a4b9b6ae7c5b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">create their own virtual classroom<\/a>, add selected students, share lessons, create assignments, collaborate virtually in real-time, do grading and provide personalised feedback \u2013 all through a single hub.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some tips for teaching with Microsoft Teams if part of the class or some students are still at home:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Host interactive discussions with your class by sharing your screen, presenting your lesson and encouraging students to ask questions using the chat feature.<\/li>\n<li>Show films by <a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/share-system-audio-in-a-teams-meeting-dddede9f-e3d0-4330-873a-fa061a0d8e3b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sharing your system audio<\/a> with the class.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/roles-in-a-teams-meeting-c16fa7d0-1666-4dde-8686-0a0bfe16e019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Moderate the class discussion<\/a> during lessons by muting students, making them presenters, or removing them from the classroom if necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Record lessons in case some students can\u2019t join the session or if they\u2019d like to go over it again.<\/li>\n<li>Let your students know and when you are available for questions so they can reach you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And some extra tips that can be used in or outside the classroom:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create and grade quizzes and assessments in Teams using\u202fMicrosoft Forms.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage your students to use\u202fImmersive Reader in Teams\u202fto help them read messages, understand assignment prompts, follow along and contribute.<\/li>\n<li>Create a \u2018fun channel\u2019 with things like a virtual science fair or poetry group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Support and training available to you right now<\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019ve created a series of\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/microsoftteams.eventbuilder.com\/TeamsEducation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">webinars<\/a>\u202fthat can be accessed on-demand for teachers to get started on Teams.
